ArticulateUpstairs is the mezzanine space on the first floor of the Articulate building, located at 497 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt.
ArticulateUpstairs accepts proposals and expressions of interest from artists for small scale projects and wall installations. These can include abstraction, installation, photography or moving image, expanded painting and drawing, collecting and archival projects, documentation projects and projects that explore curating and exhibiting as an installation practice.
The space is comprised of two walls and is best suited to two dimensional work or work that does not exceed 40cm depth from the wall. Wall A is 6.96 metres long. Wall B is 4.6 metres long. Both are 3 metres in height. There is a corridor that is 2.3 metres wide and runs the length of the space but is not to be used as part of the exhibition space. The bathroom wall at the top of the stairs and the brick wall on the Parramatta Rd end of the mezzanine are also not to be used as exhibition space.

Exhibitor information
Exhibitions are usually for a 3 week period, however the duration of the exhibition can be extended upon negotiation with the coordinator. We try to coordinate shows and openings to coincide with the main Articulate project space program. Gallery hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday 11am to 5pm. Sometimes projects use both the ground floor project space and the Mezzanine upstairs jointly.
Installation
Installation takes place from the Tuesday of the first week. De-installation is to be completed by the Monday directly following the exhibition period. Longer installation and de-installation periods can be negotiated if required with advance notice.
Costs
• $375 for 3 weeks plus $120 per week for extra weeks
• $300 bond to be paid prior to installation and to be returned upon restoration of the space and return of the key

Exhibitor responsibilities
• Providing suitable text and images for PR (100-200 words and a 2MB JPG)
• Some gallery minding (to be negotiated with other exhibitors)
• Coordinating opening or closing event with other artists exhibiting downstairs
• Costs associated with opening/closing event
• Costs associated with opening/closing event
• Restoring the wall to its original condition
• Photocopying room sheets (2 colour, 10-20 black/white)
• BYO tools and AV
• Documentation
